The Lie That the Turah Was Abolished

One of the most widespread doctrines today is the claim that Yahusha came to abolish the Turah. This teaching is repeated in many churches and is also used by critics of the renewed covenant writings as proof that Yahusha opposed the commandments of YAHUAH. But did Yahusha ever make that claim?

No.

In fact, He said the exact opposite.

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.”
— Yahusha, Mathathyahu 5:17

Yahusha began by saying “Think not.” He knew people would eventually accuse Him of abolishing the Turah, so He addressed that misunderstanding before it spread.

He then continued:

“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”
— Yahusha, Mathathyahu 5:18

Heaven and earth are still here. Therefore, Yahusha Himself said the Turah had not passed away. Yahusha also warned against teaching others to break the commandments.

“Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven.”
— Yahusha, Mathathyahu 5:19

That is not the language of someone abolishing YAHUAH’s commandments.
Throughout His ministry, Yahusha quoted the Turah, taught the Turah, and defended the Turah against corrupt traditions. When asked about the greatest commandment, He answered directly from the Turah.

“Hear, O Yashar’al; YAHUAH our Aluah is one YAHUAH: And thou shalt love YAHUAH thy Aluah with all thy heart…”
— Yahusha, Marqus 12:29–30

He then quoted Wayaqra:
“Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

— Yahusha, Marqus 12:31
Yahusha never replaced the Turah.

He taught it correctly. The Shalyakhaym continued the same message. Yahukhanan wrote:

“And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”
— Yahukhanan, 1 Yahukhanan 2:3

Khazun describes the faithful remnant this way:

“Here is the patience of the Qadashaym: here are they that keep the commandments of Aluah, and the testimony of Yahusha.”
— Yahukhanan, Khazun 14:12

Notice that Scripture never separates the commandments from the testimony. The remnant keeps both. The real issue is not the Turah. The real issue is sin, hypocrisy, and man-made traditions. Yahusha repeatedly rebuked religious leaders for replacing YAHUAH’s commandments with their own traditions. He never rebuked people for obeying the Turah.

Questions This Doctrine Cannot Answer

  • If Yahusha abolished the Turah, why did He say, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law”?
  • Why did He say not even one jot or tittle would pass from the law until heaven and earth pass?
  • Why did He warn against teaching people to break even the least commandments?
  • Why did He quote the Turah when asked about the greatest commandments?
  • Why did Yahukhanan say we know Him by keeping His commandments?
  • Why does Khazun describe the remnant as those who keep the commandments of Aluah and the testimony of Yahusha?

These questions expose the doctrine because they come directly from Scripture.

Final Verdict

The claim that Yahusha abolished the Turah is not supported by His own words. He defended the Turah. He taught the Turah.
He fulfilled the Turah without destroying it.
The Shalyakhaym continued calling believers to obedience. The remnant is never described as rejecting YAHUAH’s commandments. They are identified by keeping the commandments of Aluah and the testimony of Yahusha. The lie is that the Turah was abolished. The truth is that Yahusha called His followers to walk in it faithfully. Amayn.
